Fabricated Magazine

FABRICATED touches upon the sentimentality of human nature with a combination of comedy and error - we not only comment on contemporary culture, but engage with it.
More than observing what goes on in fashion, art, and literature, we contribute and engage with it. As a collective, we are thriving to create stories for all to understand. Our source of communication is reaching out to all the people willing to listen. Through bedtime myths and fairytales we try to grasp our contemporary world, translating old beliefs into new standards, hence our name: FABRICATED.

Biannual independent magazine
Focuses on the intricacies of the world of fashion and other domains by relating it to fairytales, and lessons taught by them
It has an enclosed mini-book which is a collectible bit from the magazines; contains stories or bits from the common folk, makes the magazine more engaging with the audience
In our first issue, we are contributing to Carlo Collodi‘s Pinocchio. Whilst the original character always strived to be his honest self in order to become a real human being, we think dishonesty and imperfection is what makes us human. Our society has learned to live with lies, so did we.

Editorial One: White Lies
Playing with the concept of Pinocchio being a wooden puppet, we visualised the story of the editorial about how the lies are the puppeteers of the mind, and how society almost demands the need for white lies, in the name of having socially acceptable demeanour.
The conceptional background sources from Pinocchio, but is being told in a new form. A modern translation that makes living with lies something acceptable, rather than unimaginable or taboo.
Editorial Two: Black Lies
Applying this handcrafted kind of child game into editorial shooting: like the strings controlling Pinocchio, we‘ve tried to tie it up with how lies are interconnected and sewn together. They also signify the lies mixing up and controlling each other.
We also used the mirrors and rope to connect to the next genre within the magazine, which is the Teufelskreis.
